I’m going to start mixing in some interval training with my normal training. Right now I run four days a week but I don’t really do any speed work. I do run stairs and hills at least once a week and have been using that as an excuse to not do interval training. Tomorrow I am going to do my first set of intervals. I am going to start easy since this is the first speed workout in a long time. I am going to start with 4x400m intervals.
The thing about interval training is that it will help you in your distance running. Interval training is how your body becomes faster. Even though you might only be doing 4x400m sprints your body is adapting to the faster pace. Then when you get out on the road for a 8-10K run your body will be able to pick up the pace a little.
